Ex-Myanmar military personnel recounts horrors of junta after seeking refuge in India

As the Myanmar military continues to shoot innocent civilians and track down citizens joining or supporting the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), many Myanmar nationals are crossing over to Indian territory, seeking refuge. As per reports, Myanmar Nationals are seeking refuge in Mizoram; and the people of the state, sharing similar ethnicity, are giving the refugees moral and physical support. Speaking to ETV Bharat, a former army personnel from Myanmar who took asylum in Mizoram, said he fled the country after refused orders to shoot the peaceful protestors. "As I had disobeyed the orders to shoot civilians and fled, the military has been interrogating my family about my whereabouts and my father has also been arrested by the military in Falam district," he said.
