Malkangiri: While the COVID warriors of the country are on their concerted efforts to beat the virulent virus, the indomitable spirit and dedication of two tribal Anganwadi workers in Odisha's Malkangiri have earned laurels. The two tribal Anganwadi workers are Pramila Pelmal and Hemlata Shisa of Raniguda Panchayat under Chitrakonda village. Both Pramila and Hemlata also spread awareness about the COVID-19 disease and the precautions that should be taken. The two provide food to the residents of the two villages, attend to the health needs of the women, especially those who are pregnant. The dup cross the swelling river every year to attend to their responsibilities. They are also checking the health of the villagers on regular basis. Even during the rainy season when the river is flooded, they take risks to cross it. They usually tie dried bottle gourd shells to their waist and cross the river to go to their respective Anganwadi centres.
