Selfie accident: Mother drowns, son missing

A woman and her toddler son drowned in a river in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district during a selfie session. The incident happened on Friday morning near Kaundinya check dam in Jallipetta area. According to eyewitnesses, the mother-son duo positioned themselves on a rock beside the river and started taking selfies. While taking selfies on a rock, the duo slipped and fell into the water. The deceased mother-son duo has been identified as the residents of Palamaneru Gaddur colony of the same area. Meanwhile, local people managed to fish out the body of the woman but the child is missing. On being informed by the locals, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. Police have sent the woman's body to a nearby hospital for postmortem.
