The Asaduddin Owaisi-led party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) exceeded expectations in the Bihar elections, gaining five seats out of twenty-four seats. The Hyderabad-based party is now planning to contest West Bengal polls. Speaking on this, West Bengal's Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the party like AIMIM has no ground in Bengal. He said the AIMIM is like an 'alien' to the people of Murshidabad and West Bengal. He also stated that all efforts will be marshalled in order to prevent any kind of communal aggression by AIMIM and BJP in Murshidabad in particular and West Bengal in general.
