After COVID-19 breakout, Barmer jail prisoners sit on hunger strike

A video of Barmer jail prisoners sitting on a hunger strike has come out in the public domain with inmates alleging that the jail authorities are not taking adequate precautions during COVID-19. In the video, one of the inmates can be heard saying that jailer is assaulting them and they will continue to sit on the strike till their demands are fulfilled. It may be recalled that at least 126 prisoners of Barmer jail has tested positive for the coronavirus and the district administration has shifted them to a COVID Centre within the prison. The inmates sought proper treatment facilities and timely testing. However, ETV Bharat does not vouch for the authenticity of the video.
