Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand): SDRF jawans have rescued a pregnant woman trapped on the highway following a landslide in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The woman (20) from Mukhba village began experiencing labour pain and got stuck on the road as the Gangotri National Highway was blocked due to the massive landslide on Monday. Huge boulders and a large amount of debris fell on the highway blocking it. Due to the closure of Gangotri Highway, the international border including Gangotri Dham, 11 villages of Harshil and Bhatwadi valley were also cut off from the district headquarters. The relatives of the woman had dialled the police for help, after which an SDRF team from Bhatwadi and local volunteer Rajesh Rawat reached the spot as soon as the information was received and rescued the pregnant woman in about 20 minutes. The family members of the woman thanked the SDRF for their swift response.
