Unable to sell their produce, the farmers in Karnataka's Kolar are destroying their crops of late. A farmer threw his tomatoes on the road after he was forced to sell his produce in less than 75 paise per kilogram. In another incident, a farmer destroyed more than 60 tonnes of cabbage after getting less than ₹2 per kilogram. The Karnataka government had initially announced a 14-day 'close down' from April 27 but subsequently imposed a lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 24 as the COVID-19 cases continued to rise.
