Meet the man who first shared video of Uttarakhand disaster

ETV Bharat Uttarakhand's Bureau Chief Kirankant Sharma spoke to Manvar Singh, who was the first to share the video of the sudden flood in Chamoli. Singh, a resident of Raini village, said he heard the screams of people at around 10.39 AM on February 7. "At first I felt that it was a landslide. When I looked at the mountain, I saw water bursting through," he said. Singh tried to inform the district disaster management officer, but when the call could not connect, he decided to go live on Facebook. When he reached Raini village, he trembled at the horrific scene of destruction, but managed to share pictures of the situation on social media, so that the information could reach the administration as soon as possible. Singh said that though the incident took place before 11 AM, the administration could only reach the spot by 2 PM on the fateful day.
