IIT prof makes humanoid robot accumulating parts from general stores

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT) teacher Dinesh Patel has made a robot- 'Shalu', that can interact not only in nine Indian languages as well in 38 foreign languages. Patel, who has made the robot said that he got inspiration from Sophia, a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. The teacher, hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur said that he started the process in 2017 after watching the movie starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- 'Robot'. Interestingly, all parts which were used while manufacturing was purchased from general stores. It cost Rs 50,000 to build the humanoid robot, informed Patel.
