At the trailer launch of Thalaivi in Chennai, actor Kangana Ranaut got emotional while lauding her co-star from the film Arvind Swamy and director AL Vijay. Heaping praise on Vijay, the actor said never in her life she has met a man who made her not feel apologetic about her talent. Kangana also thanked Arvind for coming onboard to play MGR knowing that Thalaivi is a female-led film as not many big heroes would agree to star in a film headlined by a female star.
