South 24 Parganas: Sunderbans, whose literal meaning is 'beautiful forest' has an equally mesmerizing natural beauty. The world's largest mangrove forest is famous also because it is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. Tourists visiting Sunderbans spend days on boats to get a glimpse of the tiger.
The most celebrated resident of this place - the Bengal Tiger - has been caught on camera hunting its prey. The video depicts how skillfully the hunter moves for its prey but finally fails by a whisker. The scene has been captured in Chulkati camp area of Ramganga range under South 24 Parganas forest division of the Sundarbans. Forest assistant Anup Kayal had shot the scene with his camera and the video was later shared by the forest department.

In the video, the Bengal Tiger is seen hiding behind a bush while a herd of deer is seen enjoying grass some distance away. Suddenly, the tiger pounces upon the herd that escapes at lighting speed while a few jump into the water to save their lives. The tiger dives into the water but after a few seconds the deer is seen walking past the riverbank leaving the tiger frustrated seeing its prey escape.
