Bengaluru (Karnataka) : In a queer incident that took place on Alavahalli main road in Bengaluru city here, two bikers were seriously injured when a big branch of a tree broke off and hit them. The injured Meenakshi and another person have been admitted to the ESI (Employees' State Insurance) Hospital.
The rains that have been lashing parts of the city for the past few days are causing many problems for road users. Thousands of people pass through the Alavahalli main road opposite the Jalgeramma temple in Basavanagudi, Srinagar, every day. Recently, branches were cut and trees were trimmed for over two kilometres along the main road for facilitating the election campaign road shows.
The local residents say once the rainy season approaches, the branches of such weak trees along the road should be cut. Otherwise, people will suffer and meet with such freak mishaps. The locals further say that the forest department officials need to focus on this and take appropriate precautionary measures. The public has expressed concern over the alleged apathy of the civic authorities on this matter.
