Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside Tokyo's United Nations University on Tuesday a day after Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi was detained in a military coup. Foreign Minister of Japan Motegi released a statement on the same day, calling on Myanmar to release Aung San Suu Kyi and other related figures detained after the military seized power. Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan Kato also told reporters Japan has been strongly supporting the democratisation process in Myanmar, including suggesting issues with last year's general election should be solved by dialogue.
