'Oxygen Express' departs to Maharashtra from Vizag

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): The 'Oxygen Express' carrying a total of 105 tonnes of oxygen has departed to Maharastra from Visakhapatnam. The first Roll-On Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) train to Maharashtra has been loaded with the required liquid medical oxygen at the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, also known as Vizag Steel, a public steel producer based in Visakhapatnam. The rake train carrying seven empty tankers had arrived from Maharastra to Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Thursday at 4.30 am from the Kalamboli goods shed in Maharashtra. At the Vizag Steel plant, a special ramp was built to disembark the empty tankers and immediate arrangements were made to fill the seven tankers continuously there. While four tankers were filled with 16 tons of liquid oxygen, three tankers were filled with 13 tons of liquid oxygen each. A total of 105 tonnes of oxygen is being shipped to Maharashtra in the first instalment. As per reports, the filling process took more than 15 hours. The East Coast Railway set up a 'Green Corridor' to run the 'Oxygen Express'.
