Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh): Health workers are facing a tough time in rural areas of the state, as most of the villagers lack awareness regarding the importance of vaccines and are trying their best to avoid being inoculated. In Arangula village located in Makdi Tehsil of Bastar district, a health worker Mitanin Reena Netam had to face the fury of villagers. Mitanin who went to the village on May 18 as part of the Corona Vaccination Campaign, was going from house to house encouraging villagers to get vaccinated. However, the villagers were reluctant to get vaccinated. During this time, an angry woman Chamreen Bai physically assaulted the health worker. A video of the fight has gone viral on social media. On receiving information about the fight with Mitanin, the police station in-charge Rajendra Mandavi and Tehsildar Vijay Mishra reached the spot and explained the situation to the villagers. Kiranmayi Nayak, President of the State Women's Commission said that she would speak to the concerned authorities for strict action against the culprits in the said case.
