The flourishing narcotic business in India paints a grim picture for the future, with studies suggesting that there are 2.7 crore drug addicts in the country. The Central and State governments cannot refuse to accept their failure to effectively implement the national action plan to control drugs. India’s image as a welfare state will be strengthened only when it is able to control the flood of inebriating drinks and drugs by working in coordination with various State governments.
