Sleepy mornings in a cozy blanket and lazy afternoons is what almost everyone struggles with everyday in winters. Therefore, going for work in this season is rather challenging. People often find themselves trapped in an excessively lethargic body, lack energy and sometimes even the motivation to work at all. Hence, the ETV Bharat Sukhibhava team spoke to wellness expert Nandita Sharma, founder of Jaivik India, to share some tips with us to help energetically kick start our working winter mornings.
Have A 'Good' Morning Start
Nandita Sharma explains that most people like to sleep late in the winter season, especially now that people binge watch series online, which makes it difficult for them to get up early in the morning. But to have a day full of energy, one must leave the bed by sunrise. The habit of waking up early in the morning not only keeps us healthy, but also generates positive energy in our body. You can also start your day with morning walk, moderate exercises or stretching to keep yourself active throughout the day.
Meditation And Positive Thinking
Meditation not only reduces your stress, but also transmits energy into the body and brain. It also helps in increasing the concentration. Positive thinking too affects our behaviour in one way or the other. Living with a thought that everything will be alright, helps us work better and calmly deal with tough and problematic situations in life.
Light And Easy To Digest Meals
Most people like to consume more spicy, oily and fat rich food during winters. But one must remember that such foods are good only if consumed once in a while and only light and easily digestible foods must be consumed throughout the day at regular intervals. This way, the energy levels in the body will be maintained and laziness will be reduced.
Keep Yourself Hydrated
As the weather changes, people reduce their water consumption, which is not right. Nandita Sharma says that water not only maintains moisture in your body, but it is very useful in keeping your body energetic. Consuming the right amount of water removes the toxins that are produced in the body, making you feel healthy and enthusiastic.
Physical Activity
Try to be physically active instead of living a sedentary lifestyle, i.e. constantly sitting in one place at office or home. Get up from your place and walk around often. You can also walk when you are talking on calls. If possible, stretch your arms and legs a little while being seated on your desk or while standing. Use stairs instead of elevators. Nandita Sharma explains that physical activity not only drives away laziness but also improves physical and mental health.
Music
Any song of your choice has the ability to change the mood instantly. Therefore, you can tune on to your favourite music during lunch breaks or your leisure time. This will uplift your mood and help lessen the boredom at work. Music is also known to help one concentrate better.
Communicate With Your Colleagues
Working alone in a place can lead to boredom and work stress. But talking to your colleagues and having a little fun chit-chat with them during breaks can lessen the stress, uplift your mood and make the workplace a happy and fun environment to work in. Small breaks during work and conversations with friends can make you feel happy and energized.
Therefore, the best way to stay active during winters is to start a day early and soak-in some winter sun. Practice some moderate exercises, keep yourself physically active throughout the day and take breaks from work and conversate with your friends and colleagues, to break the monotony of your work environment.
