Ayurvedic Home Remedies for Hair and Skin

As life has to a standstill amid this lockdown, we can utilise this time by pampering our skins and hairs with ingredients present in our house. Our Ayurvedic expert Dr. Nirmala Devi has shared her expert advice about home remedies which can bring instant glow to skin.

Hyderabad: Now that you are home during lockdown, what else can be a better time to try out some home remedies for your skin and hair? Dr. Nirmala Devi, MD Ayurveda, Amrutha Ayurvedic Hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh brings you some of the best ayurvedic home remedies for skin and hair that are easy to practise at home, even after the lockdown ends.

SKIN

  1. For Instant Glow
    Churn egg yolks with butter to make a cream. Massage your face with the cream for instant glow.
  2. For Pimples
    Combine Nutmeg powder + Sandalwood powder + Black Pepper powder in equal proportions. You can slightly reduce the quantity of black pepper. Add milk to form a paste and apply it on your face. This will help with pimple problems.
  3. Skin Allergies
  • Intake of Amla powder + Neem Leaf powder along with ghee relieves all the skin allergies.
  • You can also take Amla powder along with jaggery.
  • Ginger juice with jaggery is also helpful.
  1. Skin Diseases
  • Take Neem powder + Harad powder + Amla powder for a month. This helps cure all types of skin diseases.
  • Another way is, intake or neem leaves or amla on an empty stomach.
  1. For Oily Skin
    Massage your face with coconut milk. It works as a cleanser for oily skin.

HAIR

  1. Dandruff
    Prepare a hair pack with Poppy seeds and mix it with milk to form a paste. Apply it to your hair and leave it for some time. Wash your hair with warm water. It will help with your dandruff problems.
  2. Graying Hair
    Administer 2 drops of Mustard oil through the nasal route daily. This will prevent premature graying of hair.
  3. Ringworm
    External application of sulphur and sesame oil helps cure ringworm patches.
  4. Hair Growth
    Application of paste made with hibiscus flowers with cow urine regrows fallen hair.
