Jalpaiguri: Five people hailing from Sikkim were arrested by forest officials for smuggling a Pangolin to Bhutan on Tuesday. Arrested have been charged under the wildlife protection act.
The officers at Belacoba forest range and North Bengal Task Force jointly conducted the operation.
They seized the Pangolin from Kalijhora.
Pangolins are a schedule one endangered species hunted for its meat and its various body parts are used in making traditional medicines.
