Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that the West Bengal Board's higher secondary examination will be conducted in June.
The chief minister also said that the Class 11 students will be promoted to the next class without any examination.
The Class 10 or Madhyamik examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or WBBSE has already been concluded and the paper evaluation is in the process right now.
The Class 12 state board examinations in West Bengal were postponed till April 15 as a precautionary measure in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this month, The West Bengal government announced the promotion of all the students of class 1 to 8 to the next class in wake of the emerging situation due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the reports, the West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee stated that the School Education Department decided that there will no detention of students from class 1 to 8.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) asked all the Class 10 examiners to check the answer scripts at least twice, keep the marks into the marks-foils and prepare the answer scripts for submission.
The State Board also stated that it may call for submission any time after the lockdown is uplifted. The Madhyamik results are expected to be declared in May.
