Kolkata: BJP leaders in Kolkata were arrested today after the party took out a rally under their "Paschim Bangla-Bachao programme."
A scuffle also took place between the Kolkata Police and the central forces deputed to provide security to some of the BJP leaders taking part in the protest near the Gandhi statue on Mayo Road. More than one BJP leader has been arrested.
Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari and state BJP president Dilip Ghosh were also arrested by the police. It is reported that the BJP leaders have been arrested on the basis of the Epidemic Act. BJP workers chanted slogans against the police.
