VHP comes in support of TMC MP Nusrat Jahan

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has come in the support of TMC MP Nusrat Jahan after she was slammed by the Muslim cleric for visiting Durga pandal and offering puja there. She had visited a pandal in Kolkata with her husband on Sunday.

Kolkata: Amid hue and cry by the Muslim cleric over Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan's participation in Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has come in her support.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, VHP Executive president Alok Kumar said that the ancestors of all Muslims in India were Hindus.

"I congratulate Nusrat for what she has done. It is 'Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb' which has always been the tradition of our country. If a Muslim goes to the Durga pandal and dances, then there is nothing wrong in it. On the other hand, if a Hindu gives an iftar party in the month of Ramadan, it does not mean that he has converted his religion," said Kumar.

It is to be noted that Nusrat had gone to visit a Durga pandal with her husband on Sunday, where she offered puja and danced fiercely on the drums.
