Two gangsters killed in New Town shootout had plans to flee to Italy

STF sleuths have informed that Jaipal Singh Bhullar and Jaspreet Singh, the two Punjab-based gangsters killed in Kolkata's New Town shootout, had plans to flee to Italy from Kolkata right after the lockdown was lifted.

Kolkata: Jaipal Singh Bhullar and Jaspreet Singh, the two Punjab-based gangsters killed in the New Town shootout recently, had plans to flee to Italy from Kolkata immediately after the lockdown phase would have been over. Sleuths interrogating Bharat Kumar and Sumeet Kumar, the two close associates of the slain gangsters, have secured information that one- Pakistan- based narcotics dealer was supposed to provide them with necessary assistance and fund to flee to Italy.

The Pakistan- based narcotics dealer is originally a resident of Punjab. But currently, he is hiding in Pakistan. His original name is Harbind Sindhu. But on the most-wanted list of police’s rough- register his name is enlisted as Rinda. According to police sources, Rinda is actually an international narcotics dealer.

The special task force (STF) sleuths have secured information from their counterparts in Punjab that Rinda is missing since 2018. He went to Panagarh with his girlfriend in 2018. The police raided that hotel and arrested his girlfriend. However, Rinda managed to escape by jumping from the hotel’s balcony. At that point of time, the representatives of Punjab Police discussed the matter with the senior officials of West Bengal Police.

“We came to know that Rinda was one of the most-wanted gangsters in the list of Punjab Police. He was also involved with the Khalistani movement at one point of time and later he entered the narcotics supply business. Slowly, he extended the geographical network of his business,” an STF official said. Already, the sleuths of state STF have secured information about a mysterious woman, who is a close associate of Bharat Kumar and Sumeet Kumar. She was the main operator of Sumeet and Bharat’s business of supplying dancers to the different dance bars in and around Kolkata.

“Now after the involvement of Rinda is established, we suspect that there is a definite narcotics link in the entire matter. However, more information is expected to arrive in the next few days,” an STF official said.
