Kolkata: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has alleged of a secret pact between Trinamool Congress and the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to polarise voters in West Bengal.
ETV Bharat talked to Senior left-wing leader, Hannan Mollah on the prevalent situation in West Bengal where violence broke out during BJP Chief Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata and during the incident, the statue of legendary social reformer Ishwar Chand Vidyasagar was also vandalised.
Hannan Mollah claimed that both the BJP and TMC have no respect for Vidyasagar as they are only trying to divide the voters of West Bengal between the two parties for their own political gains.
"Trinamool is a party of the goons, for the goons and by the goons. So they can only think about violence and thus they have nothing to do with the great social reformer who showed the way of education to the people of West Bengal," said Hannan Mollah.
The leader alleged that the secret pact Between TMC Chief Mamta Banerjee and the BJP was finalised during a two-hour long meeting between the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Banerjee at latter's residence in Delhi.
The political slugfest in West Bengal has been full of violence and hated rivalry between the ruling TMC and the aspiring BJP during the ongoing general elections. The worst came out on Tuesday when violence clash took place between the Trinamool party and BJP workers while BJP's national president Amit Shah was holding a road show in the state capital Kolkata.
After the incident, both parties have been alleging each other of instigating violence while the Election Commission on Wednesday imposed Article 324, and cut short the election campaigning by 24 hours.
A delegation of BJP leaders also approached the Election Commission on Thursday on West Bengal situation. The same was done by the Trinamool Congress on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the series of allegations and counter-allegations continue between the two arch-rivals in West Bengal.
