West Bengal: TMC leader Abhisekh Banerjee, nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has to give proof of the statement which was made by him while addressing in Diamond Harbour on May 15.
On Saturday Banerjee sent a defamation notice to Modi and told to reporters," he (Modi) has to substantiate his remark whatever he had given on May 15 in Diamond Harbour with proper proof otherwise I will drag him to court and do the needful".
Dubbing all the allegations against Abhisekh as false, Banerjee's lawyer Sanjay Basu on May 18 said," In your speech, you referred my client as a "Gunda" or "Goon". Such statements are inappropriate for a person holding your position. My client has declined all your claims and challenges you to provide ample amount of proof of such misstatement".
In the letter, Basu also stated that Modi threatened to lock Abhisekh's office after the announcement of the result.
Addressing the rally in Diamond Harbour Modi hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her anarchical behaviour in the state and alleged that the office of Abhisekh Banerjee was built on the encroached government land.
