PM in Kolkata for Netaji's 125th birth anniversary, Mamata to hold march

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Kolkata today for the celebration of 'Parakram Diwas', West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a rally march in the city to celebrate Netaji's birth anniversary.

Kolkata (West Bengal): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday address 'Parakram Diwas' celebrations to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The Prime Minister will preside over the inaugural function of the 'Parakram Diwas' celebrations at Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. A cultural programme "Amra Nuton Jouboneri Doot", based on the theme of Netaji, is also scheduled to be held on the day.

He will visit Netaji Bhavan at around 3:30 PM (tentative). At 3:45 PM, he will interact with artists at the National Library. At 4:30 PM, he will take part in the Parakram Divas program at Victoria Memorial, where he will inaugurate a permanent gallery on Netaji.

At around 8 PM, the Prime Minister will fly back to Delhi.

In view of the PM's visit, heavy security has been deployed across the city. According to reports, around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed across Kolkata to monitor security mechanisms.

Sand bunker and quick response teams will also be arranged at the venue where Modi will visit. Drone cameras will also be used to keep an eye on the movements in and around the particular area.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee will also take out a rally (6 kilometres) from Shyambazar five-point crossing to Red Road on Saturday to celebrate Netaji's birth anniversary.

Pertinently, the Chief Minister has also been invited to the Victoria Memorial program.

The TMC on its part will celebrate Netaji's birthday as Desnayak Diwas. Mamata has also demanded January 23 to be celebrated as a national holiday.
