Phulbagan underground Metro station to be inaugurated today

Railway Minister Piyush Goel and Minister of State Babul Supriya will inaugurate Phulbagan underground Metro station today. The Phulbagan station will be the first underground station of the East-West Metro Corridor.

Kolkata: The first underground station of the East-West Metro Corridor - Phulbagan is going to be inaugurated today. Railway Minister Piyush Goel and Minister of State Babul Supriya will inaugurate the station online due to Corona situation. After 25 long years, the city is going to get an underground metro station again. The station will be launched commercially on Monday.

The city's 16th underground metro station is opening after a long preparation. Metros in the East-West Corridor will now run from Salt Lake Sector Five to Phulbagan. The last underground metro station - Mahatma Gandhi Road Station was inaugurated about 25 years ago today.

Indrani Banerjee, Chief Public Relations Officer, Kolkata Metro, said, "Railway Minister Piyush Goel would flag off the station online at 3 pm on Sunday. So preparations for the inauguration are now in full swing. Metro Railways General Manager Manoj Joshi and other officials will participate in the flag-off ceremony from Metro Bhavan."

According to East-West Metro sources, the service trial will start tomorrow at 9.30 am. Will run until 11 p.m. During the service trial, a train will run from Salt Lake Sector Five to Fulbagan Station. Another train will run from Phulbagan station to Salt Lake Sector Five. The BEML-made rack of the train that will be used for the inauguration will be brought to the station's bump by 10:30 a.m. This is a sophisticated reck. Although it is an automatic train, the motorman will drive the train first.
