Kolkata: Spats and war of words between West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and the state government have been nothing new since the former took over as the legislative head of the state.
However, some thought that there might a "ceasefire' now with state assembly election results announced and the state government taking charge.
But those, who expected that, have been proved wrong and it seems that there are no visible possibilities of the ceasefire. Rather with reports of post-poll violence pouring in from different corners of the state, the governor has become more vocal, which naturally has attracted the ire of the ruling party, Trinamool Congress.
On Thursday morning the proactive governor reached Cooch Behar district to tour the troubled areas of Sitalkuchi, Dinhata and Sitai and personally took a stock of the situation.

He was accompanied by the local BJP Lok Sabha member from Cooch Behar, Nisith Pramanik.
The governor was shown black flags at several places on his way to the troubled spots by Trinamool Congress activists, who even shouted “Go Back” slogans.
This made him come out of his car and scold the local inspector incharge for inadequate security arrangements on the routes through which his convoy was moving.
He also questioned that in a state where the governor faces such security threats then it is easily imaginable how fragile the safety of the common people can be.
Later speaking to the media persons, the governor triggered fresh salvos towards the state administration and the ruling party.
He even went to the extent of directly attacking Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for provoking such post-poll violence by her statements during her campaign rallies.
He also said that this is the time when the state government should work in close coordination with the governor to have control over the deteriorating law & order situation in the state.

However, the statements made by the governor irked senior Trinamool Congress leaders like party Lok Sabha member from Dum Dum, Saugata Roy, who said that the governor, since the beginning, had been violating the constitutional provisions by bypassing the state government.
On Friday, the governor visited the shelter camps at Shreerampur in Assam, where many victims of post-poll violence from Cooch Behar are currently residing.
There he also said that the Chief Minister should adopt a cooperative approach under constitutional provisions to restore democracy in the state.
Senior Trinamool leaders like Saugata Roy and the party’s Rajya Sabha member, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy reacted and said that since the governor is working beyond all constitutional protocols and acting as an agent of BJP, he should either resign immediately or be sacked from the post of governor.
Meanwhile, the Left Front chairman and the politburo member of CPI(M), Biman Bose said that the governor's role has become negative in the state.
“He should rather play a positive role in the current pandemic situation,” Bose added.
