Man dies on road due to unavailability of ambulance in West Bengal

In a tragic incident, a COVID suspect man died by the roadside at Duttapukur in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. As per reports, as his condition deteriorated, he left for the hospital on foot due to unavailability of an ambulance and collapsed midway.

North 24 Parganas (WB): A 55-year-old COVID suspect breathed his last by the roadside near his house at Duttapukur in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Thursday.

The deceased was later identified as Bimal Sani.

As per reports, Sani was suffering from fever and breathing problems for the last three days.

On Thursday, as his condition deteriorated, he left for the hospital on foot due to unavailability of an ambulance and collapsed midway.

Neighbours claimed that no ambulance came to pick up the man.

"His family members were struggling to mobilise an ambulance from the morning and they stepped out to get at least an autorickshaw. He began walking towards the main road when he collapsed and died," a neighbour told.
