Kolkata: A man, suspected to be a thief, was beaten to death by a mob at Maniktala in Kolkata on Wednesday.
As per the sources, people detained the man at a local club and was brutally beaten and was left to die.
"On Wednesday morning, locals found an unknown man near Shivbari Math Bazar area and took him to a nearby club where they began to beat him over suspicion of being a thief," police said.
Though the man was rushed to the hospital by the police, he was declared dead by the doctors.
Meanwhile, police recovered wickets, cricket bats and bamboo sticks from the spot and have also deployed the dog squad to help them in the investigation.
Few people, suspected to be the accused, were also questioned by the police.
