Siliguri (West Bengal): In a bid to spread awareness as to the importance of preserving one's mother tongue, 29-year-old Gandhar Kulkarni has embarked upon a 20,000-kilometre nationwide bicycle journey to tell the people of India about the cause taken up by him.
Hailing from Maharashtra, Kulkarni aims to inform the youth and help them reconnect with their mother tongue specially those who have lost touch with their roots.
A postgraduate in Sanskrit, Kulkarni said that he started this expedition on July 1, 2018, and intends to complete it by August 15, this year.
"I started this initiative to create awareness about one's need and importance of mother tongue. My main emphasis is to contact and interact with school students. One must read all languages but they should learn their mother tongue first."
