New Delhi: Amid BJP's proactive approach concentrating on Assembly election in West Bengal, CPI general secretary D Raja told ETV Bharat in an exclusive interview on Thursday that Left and Congress could be an alternative in Bengal.
He emphasised that there should be a joint campaign of Left Front and Congress "which will give confidence to the people of Bengal."
"We are open to cooperate with Congress. In fact, Jitin Prasad who has been appointed as Congress in-charge for Bengal is likely to talk with Left leaders in the state soon," said Raja.
The CPI leader, however, said that Congress party also need introspection.
Raja's statement assumes significance as many of the senior Congress leaders have raised objections on several occasions against the party's decision on various issue. In fact, several of the party leaders have also resigned from the primary membership of the grand old party.
When asked about BJP's West Bengal strategy, Raja said that the party is desperate to convert Bengal politics into BJP Vs TMC.
"It's not going to happen. BJP is using all resources. Even the Governor has been used by the party. They are using central agencies. BJP is trying to present that law and order in Bengal as collapsed," said Raja.
He further said, "We know that Mamata Banerjee government is doing many things which are not in the interest of Bengal and its people. However, BJP is trying to create a situation in which they can replace the present government. Although, we want to replace the present government not by precedent but by the people of Bengal."

Referring to the result of Kerala local bodies election, Raja said that after Hyderabad local body elections BJP through that it is their entry in South India.
"But people of Kerala have given them a fitting reply. BJP's claim has totally failed in Kerala. And this is going to happen even in the coming Assembly elections whether it's in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, West Bengal and Assam," Raja claimed.
He said that BJP's polarisation politics will not sustain for a long time. "BJP will get a fitting response," he said.
Referring to the issues where several TMC leaders are joining BJP, Raja said that BJP is consists of former disgruntled TMC leaders.
"The development in TMC also shows that the party is having serious internal problem. However, BJP can't capture power in Bengal by promoting Bengali culture, Rabindra Nath Tagor etc," Raja said.
Interestingly, TMC strongman Suvendu Adhikary has already resigned from the party and he is likely to join BJP soon.
