Kolkata: Leader of opposition in West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Saturday has forwarded a letter to the Union health minister, Harsh Vardhan seeking a central-level probe in the bogus COVID-19 vaccination camp run by fake IAS officer, Debanjan Deb at Kasba located in the southern fringes of Kolkata. On Friday, Adhikari also met the state health secretary on this issue.

In his letter, Adhikari said that since a probe by the state police on this issue will not be reliable there is an urgency for getting the matter probed by any central agency. The leader of the opposition also alleged that in all probability some leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress might have links with this scam. He argued that the prime accused was witnessed along with a number of top Trinamool leaders and ministers and hence the probability of their involvement cannot be ruled out.

On Friday, Adhikari along with some of the BJP Lok Sabha members and MLAs went to Swastha Bhavan, met the state health secretary and demanded a proper probe in this matter.

To recall, the news of the fake vaccination camp surfaced earlier in the week after the issue was highlighted by actress-turned-politician and the Trinamool Congress MP from Jadavpur, Mimi Chakraborty, who herself was also vaccinated at the camp.
