Kolkata: Veteran leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from West Bengal Mohammed Salim has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday night.
The senior leader of the Marxist party has been admitted to a private hospital on Kolkata's Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.
The ex-MP tweeted, "I have tested positive for coronavirus with very mild symptoms but I got myself admitted into a hospital as per the advice of my attending doctor".

It has been learned that for the past few days, Md Salim was suffering from high fever, along with breathlessness and stomach pain.
Earlier, it was reported that senior CPI(M) leader Shyamal Chakrabarti has been tested positive for COVID-19. His reports came on Saturday, following which he, too, was admitted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader from West Bengal Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wished a speedy recovery to Md Salim. "Get well soon," Adhir tweeted.

It is to be noted that from 2014-2019, Salim was a Member of the Parliament representing the Raiganj Constituency.
