Chandrakona: In an unprecedented move, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday lost her calm on hearing chants of 'Jai Shree Ram' while she was on her way to Chandrakona for her last-minute campaigning. Irked by the slogan, Mamata immediately stopped her convoy, rolled down the window of her car, stepped out and asked the people who raised the slogan to talk to her.
While the people who raised the slogans managed to flee, the chief minister's furious reaction to the slogan has drawn severe criticism from the opposition.
Reacting to Mamata's action, BJP West Bengal's posted a tweet asking, "Why is DIDI so upset with the Chant of "Jai Shree Ram" and why does she call it "GALAGALI"?
In a quick response to BJP's statement, the Trinamool Congress put out a tweet saying, "Desperate BJP in Bengal doing what they do best. Shame on their desperation to put a spin on a video and create falsehood. Bengal has rejected them and they know that. They'll have no place to hide on May 23"
While the polling in the state is taking place in all the seven phases, the state goes for polling in the fourth phase on May 6.
