Kolkata: The Centre has appointed Justice Rajesh Bindal, senior-most Judge of the Calcutta High Court, as the acting Chief Justice. He will succeed Chief Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan, who is set to retire on 29th April 2021.

Justice Bindal was born and brought up at Ambala in Haryana. He obtained his degree in Law from Kurukshetra University. In the year 1985, he started practice in Panjab and Haryana High court in Chandigarh. After that, he was appointed as a Judge at the same court in the year 2006. In the year 2020, he was appointed as Justice in Calcutta High Court. He will be sworn as the acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court on Thursday.
