By- elections for seven constituencies in West Bengal might be held by September, 2021. According to sources, the Election Commission of India is all set to take a final decision in this regard shortly.

Kolkata: By- elections for seven constituencies in West Bengal might be held by September, 2021. According to sources, the Election Commission of India is all set to take a final decision in this regard shortly. The seven assembly constituencies for which polls will be held include Bhabanipur, Khrada, Santipur, Dinhata, Gosaba, Samsergunj and Jangipur. According to sources, the polls will be held immediately after the completion of Vishwakarma Puja in the state.

Election Commission sources said that the preparatory work for the elections in these seven constituencies has already started. Trinamool Congress had already been vocal about the quick completion of the election process.

Prior to this, the Election Commission has shot a letter seeking information about the pandemic situation in the state. The commission also specifically asked whether there is an ideal situation to conduct polls in the state. In its reply, the state government said that the situation is quite under control and hence there will be no problem in conducting the by- elections. So it is perceived that the by- elections will be completed by next month.
