Siliguri (West Bengal): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest in West Bengal's Siliguri, over the increasing violence in the state.
Protestors alleged that All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers are the ones behind the violence and that the attacks on BJP workers have been rapidly increasing in the state.
In the run-up to the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, and even after the results, the state has witnessed large-scale violence, where both the TMC and BJP claim multiple casualties.
The BJP won 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal in the recently-concluded parliamentary polls, only four less than the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC's 22.
Election to the 294-member state assembly is scheduled to be held in 2021.
