Kolkata: Till now the ruling Trinamool Congress leadership had been vocal in demand for the release of pending central funds for the announced projects for the state. Now BJP Lok Sabha members from the state are moving to the doors of different Union ministries with similar demands for the release of pending central funds for the announced projects as well as demanding announcement of new projects for West Bengal.

The BJP Parliamentarians from the state argue that without this initiative it will be impossible to retain victory in the 18 Lok Sabha seats in the state that the BJP secured in the 2019 general elections. Some of these demands are PM Kisan, PMAY, setting up a unit of AIIMS hospital in the North Bengal, quick completion of East-West Metro Project and implementation of One- Nation- One- Ration Card project in the state.

Speaking to ETV Bharat on this issue, the Union minister from the state, Dr Subhash Sarkar said that they are sure that all the central projects in the state will be implemented and the people of the state will be benefited out of that. "If necessary the Union government will set up special camps in the state, from where the common people will receive the benefits of different central schemes. The only aim of the 18 Lok Sabha members from the state is to ensure that the benefits of all the central schemes benefit the common people of the state," he said.

Already the 18 Lok Sabha members of BJP from Bengal and the party’s Rajya Sabha member, Swapan Dasgupta held a series of meetings with the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and the Union Health Minister, Mansukh L Mandviya in this regard. All of them appealed for immediate implementation of all the pending central projects in West Bengal.

BJP sources said that the state government’s "Duyare Sarkar" theme aiming at reaching benefits of different state schemes to the doorstep of common people helped Trinamool Congress in reaping rich benefits in the 2021 state assembly elections. So now BJP is taking a similar initiative so that the benefits of all central schemes easily reach the common people. They have named this theme as Mission- Central Projects.

Trinamool Congress had been vocal on discrimination in the supply of Covid-19 vaccines to West Bengal. They also alleged that the West Bengal government received fewer vaccines compared to other BJP- ruled states, the Union government has armed the BJP Lok Sabha members from Bengal about the details of vaccines supplied to Bengal, and so they can immediately counter Trinamool's allegations on this issue.
