New Delhi: BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of a party leader from West Bengal, who was shot dead in front of a police station.
Earlier yesterday, local BJP councillor Manish Shukla was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants near Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district.
"We don't have any faith in local police as this happened in front of the police station. We want a CBI inquiry. The role of the police must also be probed. It is shameful that the TMC has stooped down to this," Vijayvargiya said in a video statement.
BJP MP Arjun Singh, held the TMC responsible for Shukla's "killing" and claimed that even he feared a threat to his life from TMC goons.
Shukla, who had switched over to the saffron party from the TMC two years back, was considered to be close to Singh.
Meanwhile, the BJP is sending a delegation of West Bengal leaders, led by Vijayvargiya, to the state. The delegation, comprising Arjun Singh, General Secretary Sanjay Singh, and BJYM president Saumitra Khan, will visit Shukla's home and prepare a report.

Only after the team submits its report to national party president JP Nadda, will the saffron party decided its next course of action.
According to reports, the BJP might also request a meeting with President Ram Nath Kovind over the matter.
Meanwhile, sources said that the Ministry of Home Affairs, which was already looking seriously towards the issue of political killings in West Bengal, might take a "big step."
According to sources, several central leaders of the BJP are already in contact with the West Bengal leaders, as the party is preparing to rake up the issue further.
