New Delhi: Several Trinamool Congress leaders in West Bengal joined BJP on Monday. BJP claimed that TMC leaders will join the party in seven phases after which Mamata Banerjee's party will be reduced to a splinter group.
Leaders, including MPs and MLAs, joined the party in the presence of the saffron party's national general secretary and West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP state unit president Dilip Ghosh, senior leader Mukul Roy and MP Arjun Singh.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dilip Ghosh, BJP's Bengal state unit president said, "people in West Bengal have benefitted from Central government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana."
He further added that hooliganism by TMC workers with the help of Bengal police will not deter the BJP from its goals.
He claimed that 10 district councils from Dakshin Midnapore panchayat have also joined the BJP.
