Kolkata: After remaining patient for quite a while the West Bengal unit of BJP is now all set to put a leash on motor mouths of the party. Starting with Rajib Bandopadhyay and Sabyasachi Dutta, both turncoat leaders, the party has decided to serve show-cause notices to those who have been making social media posts putting the party in a bad light. Is a purge planned?

A decision in this regard has already been taken by the state disciplinary committee of the party. BJP sources said that Rajib Banerjee and Sabyasachi Dutta's cases will just be the beginning of this count. Some other leaders, who had been constantly making anti-party public statements or posting anti-party remarks on social media, are also in the line. All such leaders are mainly those turncoats joining BJP from Trinamool namely, Lok Sabha member, Sunil Mondal, Dipendu Biswas and Sonali Guha, among others.

On this issue state BJP president, Dilip Ghosh told ETV Bharat, strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who are constantly showing anti-party statements either verbally or through social media. "It will not just be against Rajib Bandopadhyay or Sabyasachi Dutta. Those leaders who make such anti-party remarks are not doing the right thing. Enough is enough. Now the party is all set to take strong disciplinary actions against such motor mouths," Ghosh said.

BJP sources said that Rajib Bandopadhyay was verbally cautioned several times but he did not mend his ways so finally he has been issued a show-cause notice. "If he does not reply to it in the next seven days, then he might even face expulsion from the party for getting involved in anti-party activities. Likewise, after being served the show cause notice, Sabyasachi Dutta too will be given time to reply to the notice. If he fails he might also face expulsion. Through this, a strong signal will be sent to the party's rank and file," said a member of the BJP state disciplinary committee.

He also said that the majority of the disciplinary committee members feel that such motor mouths like Rajib Bandopadhyay and Sabyasachi Dutta are maligning the image of the party in public. Dilip Ghosh personally talked to the party Lok Sabha member and convener of the state disciplinary committee, Dr Subhash Sarkar on this issue. After the discussion, the decision to take strong disciplinary action against the turncoat motor mouths was taken.

A senior party leader said that now it is almost certain that the turncoats like Rajib Bandopadhyay and Sabyasachi Dutta have made up their minds to go back to Trinamool Congress and they will do that if the top leadership gives them the green signal. "So why allow them to continue with BJP during the interim period? Rather more we allow them to continue with us, the more they will malign the party. We have already prepared a list of such turncoats. Already there are grievances among the common workers of BJP about these turncoats. So we should get rid of them now. This action will also make the old-timers in BJP happy," a senior BJP leader said.
