4-month-old baby from West Bengal defeats Kawasaki disease, COVID-19

An infant in Kolkata recovered from Kawasaki disease after battling it for several days. He was also infected with the COVID-19 infection, the test for which came out negative after 10 days of treatment.

Kolkata(West Bengal): A four-month-old baby in Kolkata defeated Kawasaki disease and COVID-19 after battling the diseases for several days.

The child, a native of Hooghly district in the state, was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata city after he developed severe fever and cried continuously, followed by rashes appearing on his skin. In the initial phase of diagnosis, he was found to be infected with the Kawasaki disease.

Later, when his symptoms persisted, a swab test was conducted, revealing that he had also contracted COVID-19.

Given the sensitivity of the case, he was immediately referred to Kolkata Private College and Hospital for further treatment.

The child, however, showed a quick recovery and his condition improved within a week.

After 10 days of treatment, his report for COVID-19 also came negative.

An online version of the Indian Pediatric Association Journal decided to take up the child's story for spreading awareness on such exceptional cases.
