Lightning kills four people in West Bengal

The deaths were reported in separate incidents in Jamalpur in Purba Bardhaman district on Saturday.

Jamalpur (WB): Four people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district on Saturday, an official said.

The deceased have been identified as Shambhunath Bag (52), Ranjit Goyala (40), Adhir Malik (49) and Aroop Bag (40)- all from Jamalpur area. "They were out in different parts of Jamalpur block when lightning struck them," he said.

Jamalpur Block Development Officer Subhankar Majumdar said he will do his best to make sure that the next of kin of the deceased get monetary assistance.
