Uttarkashi: The World famous temple of Yamunotri Dham was closed today for the winter season after following the rituals at 12:15 pm. The devotees will now be able to visit Yamuna Ji for their winter stay in Khushamath (Kharsali) only after six months.
It should be noted that after 6 months, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the valleys of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will be opened for devotees for summer. This year, due to corona, few people visited the temple whereas usually, devotees from foreign also que up to have darshan.
The Chardham Yatra starts from Dharmagarni Haridwar and Tirthanagari Rishikesh. At the same time, according to scriptures, the beginning of Chardham Yatra begins from Yamunotri Dham as mother Yamuna is considered to be the presiding goddess of devotion.

Devotees say the journey to Yamunotri Dham, which is at a height of 4000 meters above sea level, is a journey of mystery and adventure along with religion and spirituality. This journey not only provides peace and calmness to the body, mind but also makes the devotees interact with nature.
The doors of the famous Kedarnath shrine have also been shut today for winter after all rituals and pujas. On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat were also present.
