Rudrapur: A wave of grief swept across the Kichha tehil in Uttarakhand as the mortal remains of martyred soldier Dev Bahadur reached his native place on Wednesday.
Even as they struggled to come to terms with the shocking news and grieved over the life cut short, family members of the soldier said they were proud of his sacrifice.
"We feel proud that he laid down his life for the motherland. He will always be alive in our hearts," said brothers of the martyred soldier. Meanwhile, locals have demanded the state government to name the nearby stadium on the martyr's name.
It is to be noted that 24-year-old Bahadur, deployed to the 6/1 (Gorkha Regiment), had lost his life when he accidentally stepped on an old unexploded explosive device near the Line of Control in the Kargil sector.
