Kashipur: Kashipur Police arrested a man for divorcing his wife through instant triple talaq in Uttarakhand's Kashipur on Thursday.
Meanwhile, State Women's Commission Deputy Chairman Saira Bano praised the police action for taking swift action against the accused husband.
According to reports, a lawsuit was filed in Jaspur on December 9th last year. The victim, in her complaint, alleged that her husband demanded dowry, failing which her husband awarded with instant talaq.
The police presented the accused in the court from where he has been sent to jail. Apart from the husband, the woman has also demanded the arrest of other in-laws.
Saira Banu, who played the lead role in the campaign against triple talaq, and currently vice-chairman of the State Women's Commission, has praised the police for the first arrest of triple talaq in the state.
