Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand): As the world is fighting a 'battle' against the coronavirus, many are inventing various techniques to fight the menace.

One such technique has been developed by the Harela Society of Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district. It has developed a 'purple cube' by which anything can be sanitized easily.

Harela Society, which works in the area of environment, has invented a technique of using ultraviolet rays to sanitize things.

Refraction of solar rays generates a spectrum, of which ultraviolet rays are one part. When any virus or bacteria comes in contact with the C type of ultraviolet rays it gets completely destroyed.

Harela Society convener Manu Dafali claimed that the coronavirus too will be destroyed if exposed to the ultraviolet rays. With the help of purple cube, which runs on electricity, hospitals can be sanitized and mask, gloves and PPE kits can be sanitized and reused.

Although, it was difficult to make this purple cube due to the lockdown. Under tough circumstances, Harela Society made this with the help of old RO machine and ultraviolet tube. Several countries, including China and other European countries, are using this technique for sanitization while it is not being used in India.

It is to be noted that in view of the rapid spread of coronavirus and the paucity of medical equipment, this technique of sanitization can prove to be very useful and effective.
