New Delhi: In the 66th National Film Festival, 2018 that was organised on Tuesday, Uttarakhand won the award for the Most Film Friendly State.
It was received by state secretary for Tourism Sachiv Dileep Jawalkar on behalf of the Uttarakhand government.
Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu handed over the award to Jawalkar.
The minister expressed joy over this achievement.
"Uttarakhand government has made various efforts to develop our state, it is these efforts that have borne fruit today," he said while talking to media after receiving the award.
He further added that the Uttarakhand government supports filmmakers in their shooting ventures and is also rich in natural beauty and thus an ideal movie location.
Jawalkar assured that better facilities will be developed in the state for these purposes.
It is to be noted that this is the first time that a state has won a National Film Award.
