Dehradun: Muslim women wearing burqas in Haldwani city of Uttarakhand have taken to yoga every morning to improve their health and stay fit.
A women's club has been formed wherein women gather early morning in one of the parks to do yoga and exercise for one and a half hours in order to keep health ailments at bay.
Women practicing yoga said that this step is one way forward to PM's fit India movement. Even though many of these Muslim women are caught up with household chores, they make it a point to practice yoga everyday.
"This yoga and exercise journey of Muslim women started with four women only but now the Women's Club has increased to 40 in number. Women wearing burqas and sports shoes are pushing away the weight gain and diseases by working out effortlessly," Rahnuma, the trainer who teaches yoga to Muslim women said.

She also added that these women are enjoying yoga and exercise so much that they take part in it enthusiastically.
"I used to come for morning walks earlier. But now I feel absolutely great and fit after doing yoga everyday. Yoga is an excellent way of taking care of your health," a woman said.
Another woman stated that she started yoga two months ago. By doing one and a half hours of yoga and exercising daily, she eventually lost fifteen kilos in just two months.
There are many benefits of yoga, it increases flexibility, improves respiration, energy and vitality. Yoga also helps one maintain a balanced metabolism besides strengthening cardio and circulatory health.
